There are a ton of F&B businesses that post about their mouthwatering food and drinks. There is a plethora of #foodpics on social media. But what differentiates one business from the other? Is it really just the food and drinks?

In my humble opinion, businesses often overlook the one thing that is super important to the hospitality industry as a whole - the experience. It’s about the décor, the vibes, the service, and the people. The food and drinks just brings them all together.

At this point, you are probably wondering, “How can I share the experience through my content?”

Here are some content ideas that will inspire you.

Content Ideas & Inspiration

1. Obviously, take photos and videos of your food and drinks. But remember to mix it up!

Showcase solo shot of drool-worthy dishes

Take a flat lay shot of table full of dishes

Add hands digging into the dishes

2. Repeat point 1 with any merch or cool packaging that your restaurant has.

Show off your restaurant merchandise and get some sales!

Show your new packaging designs to the world

3. Stand out from other restaurants with something interesting like behind-the-scenes content. You will be surprised at the number of people who find a restaurant’s kitchen extremely unfamiliar and fascinating.

Snap some photos of your chefs intricately plating the signature dishes

Take videos demonstrating some impressive knife skills

Take candid photos of your team hanging out after service hours

Have a bar? How about some videos of an impressive bartender at work?

Have an R&D coming up? Place your phones or cameras on stands around the room and record down the entire R&D process. It is an amazing raw footage for so many social media video content!

Place your phones or cameras on stands around the kitchen and restaurant during peak hours to take videos. The raw footage can share many snippets of what a typical day in your restaurant is like!

4. Make your content super personal!

Take candid shots of your service staff chatting and laughing with your customers

Snap a photo of customers who are patronising your restaurant on a special occasion and share their story (e.g. anniversary, date night, birthday, reunion)

Share the inspiration or story behind certain areas of the restaurant’s interior or pieces of décor

Upload candid shots of your team hanging out celebrating a milestone or an occasion (e.g. restaurant’s anniversary, chef’s birthday)

Bonus: Social Media Features

Are you fully utilising all the features on social media? Instagram not only has a posting function, it also has Instagram Stories, Highlights, Reels, and Live. YouTube not only has videos, it also has YouTube Shorts. Facebook pages not only has content posting, it also has similar functions that Instagram has.

As you make use of every feature on the social media platform, the chances of getting more views is higher. And consequently, the chances of getting a like, share, save, or comment is higher as well, which increases the possibility of getting even more views.

But don’t get sucked into the toxicity of vanity metrics on social media. Instead, focus on making the connection and communicating your brand.
